Utah State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

The CE Shop is an approved school in Utah: Code/Approval Number: 6845319-CEPO

Every two (2) years, eighteen (18) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.

  • Licenses must be renewed every two (2) years in the month you are licensed in.
  • Nine (9) hours must be approved core real estate courses. The CE Shop courses which meet the mandatory core real estate courses are as follows and are noted in the catalog:
    • Keeping it Honest: Understanding Real Estate & Mortgage Fraud (3 hours)
    • Breaking Barriers: Fair Housing (3 hours)
    • Cracking the Code of Ethics (3 hours)
    • Short Sale and Foreclosure Risk Management (3 hours)
  • The Utah Division of Real Estate requires that all students participating in distance (online) learning spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for our students.
  • None of The CE Shop courses count toward the CE hours that mortgage officers or principal/associate lending managers are required to take. The courses are only approved for real estate salesperson and broker licensees with the Utah Division of Real Estate.

  • ANY SALES AGENT WHO WAS LICENSED ON OR AFTER 7/01/07 are required to complete the 12 hour New Agent course during their first renewal period in addition to an additional 6 hours of electives to meet the new 18 hour requirement.
    • Any licensee, including brokers, may take the New Agent course if they wish and it will count toward their CE requirements.
    • Currently, The CE Shop does not offer the 12 hour New Agent course but does offer the additional 6 hours of electives to meet the new 18 hour requirement.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time.  Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state.  Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.

Real estate course completions are recorded with the Utah Division of Real Estate by The CE Shop once a week with the exception of the last week of the month, when they are reported daily.  It may take 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process to ensure the reporting of your hours takes place. Utah license numbers should be seven (7) digits and end with a dash, followed by two (2) letters and two (2) zeros.
