Nebraska State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

Nebraska Real Estate Commission Approved CE Sponsor.

School Code/Approval Number: NEREC does not issue school approval numbers.

Every two (2) years, twelve (12) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.

·         Brokers and Salespersons must renew their license by November 30th of each year.  Licenses expire on December 31st of each year.

·         The Nebraska Real Estate Commission requires that all students participating in distance (online) learning spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content.  Our online real estate course delivery system manages this requirement for our students.

·         Of the twelve (12) hours, three (3) hours must include one (1) of the following:

o    Nebraska Landlord Tenant Act

o    Fair Housing/ADA (our “Breaking Barriers: Fair Housing” (3 hours) meets this requirement)

o    Nebraska Real Estate Trust Account Maintenance

o    Ethics/Ethical Decision Making (our "Cracking the Code of Ethics" (3 hours) meets this requirement)

o    Agency Relationships

o    CMA’s or Broker Price Opinions

o    Nebraska Real Estate License Law

·         Please see our twelve (12) hours packages which will meet all requirements for renewing.

RENEWAL INFO:

  • Renewals will be mailed out by October. Licensees may also renew online at www.nrec.state.ne.us
  • Licensees must renew online or have their renewal postmarked on or by 11/30/2009. CE must also be completed by 11/30/2009. It is the licensee's responsibility to ensure the renewal form and any additional information/fees has been received by NREC. If the licensee does not renew by 11/30/2009, a $25 late fee, in addition to the renew fee, must be paid for each month the renewal is late.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time.  Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state.  Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.

Real estate course completions are recorded with the Nebraska Real Estate Commission once a week on Wednesdays.  It may take 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process to ensure the reporting of your hours takes place. Nebraska license numbers should be ten (10) digits and usually start with the year the license was issued.
